 Pastor's Possible Removal fromTelevision

The Good news is that you can help stop this now!!!

Removal of 20 Pastors , including Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah and other pastorsfrom the airwaves.

An organization has been granted a Federal Hearing on the same subject by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington , D.C. Their petition, Number 2493, would ultimately pave the way to stop the reading of the gospel of our Lord and Savior, on the airwaves of America .

They got 287,000 signatures to back their stand! If this attempt is successful, all Sunday worship services being broadcast on the radio or by television will be stopped.  This group is also campaigning to remove all Christmas programs and Christmas carols from public schools! You, as a Christian, can help!

We are praying for at least 1 million signatures. This would defeat their effort and show that there are many Christians alive, well and concerned about our country.   As Christians, we must unite on this.

Please don't take this lightly. We ignored one lady once and lost prayer in our schools and in offices across the nation. Please stand up for your religious freedom and let your voice be heard. Together we can make a difference in our country.

Please, if you don't wish to participate, return this email to whoever sent it to you so they can at least keep this email going or forward it to someone you know who will wish to participate. Dr. Dobson is going on CNBC to urge every Christian to get involved. I hope you will sign and forward to all your family and friends.. Please if you wish, CLEAN UP THE MESSAGE, and forward this to everyone you think should read this

Please do not sign jointly, such as Mr. & Mrs., each person should sign his/her own name.

Please defeat this organization and keep the light of our freedom of religion.

When you get to 1,000 names please e-mail back to:

Transition the most Important part of Change

Renee Aldrich
            Renee P. Aldrich

The new year is always the time that people elect to set about changing, these changes generally surround  weight loss, smoking cessation, restoring credit, straightening out financial life, restoring, or beginning spiritual life; going back to school, starting a business,  fixing up our homes, just to name a few.

Unfortunately right around the middle or the end of January, the best intention about some of these changes seem to fall through.  While some people make it into February, for the most part the attempt to change is many times ended even before it gets started.  What is the reason for that?  I've had to explore this question  because too often this little phenomena has happened to me.  The reason that change is often so challenging, and sticking to the idea, or plan does not last  is because of a poor transition process.

In the workplace, in organizations, in churches, there is often resistance to change.  You hear it all the time, moans and groans, sighs of dismay, and general disgruntled spirits whenever you find out about a pending change.  Generally the reason for the groans is because administrators, management, and/or church leaders do not 'transition' those who are going to be impacted organizational

For an example several years ago I knew of a Church who went from minimal office equipment to becoming fully automated; they also went from part time clerks, to a full time office manager.  All of these were excellent changes; all destined to make things run smoother, and more efficiently.  So it would  have seemed  that this would be great and everyone would be on board.  This was not to be the case.

There was strife and confusion among those who had been part-time clerks, who harbored some resentments against the new  full time office manager, the office manager, became somewhat of a bully, commanding folks and demanding things; and much more.  So the wonderful changes which were intended to make things better; really ended up creating a great deal of trouble all the way around.

The joint Board who made the choices, and decisions to invoke the changes, failed to do one thing; they did not 'transition' all the parties.  That transition most likely would  have looked like this: a meeting with everyone, making sure proper introductions were made, official and professional training on the new equipment; as well as specific outline as to what exactly everyone would be responsible for, demonstrating how their contribution fit into the flow of the newly set up office situation.

In our personal lives it is really no different.  Creating an atmosphere for the changes we want to make is a very important element to the eventual success.  Whether it is loosing weight, starting a saving account, committing to 'giving back' more, or whatever; it is important that we recognize the need for transitioning ourselves  to make the change.

If it is about weight or eating healthier, you may want to remove all the temptations from your house, you may want to equip yourself with reading material that you can refer to, you'll have to remember to carve out time to work out.  To stop smoking,

SETTING  A DATE, is probably the first  essential move, then decide what kind of support you'll need and plan for it.

As with the situation with the church, any transition should begin with a meeting.  Have it with yourself, outline your plans and the steps you;ll take.  In the meeting recognize that there may be detractors, and build them in. Depending upon the change, be careful who you share it with.  If it does not impact others, then you would do well to not mention your intentions until you are well underway.

Well meaning family and friends don't always respond to things as we hope they will, and we may get discouraged.  Also well meaning friends and family,  many times do not support positive changes, and may subconsciously sabotage your efforts, and you'll find yourself right back at square one.

A woman enteringa softer, more loving relationship with herself understands the concept and importance of proper transition as a key in any successful change.

So before you get to the end of the month and find your changes over before they began, here are some steps to follow in making the transition that will lead to success.

1 Have a meeting with yourself about your decision-be honest about where you are with your commitment

 2.      Write down your goals (not too lofty-make them achievable, and measurable)

3.      Prepare for set backs and commit to getting over them quickly

4.      If necessary check with an expert-more than likely this is not best girlfriend or family member

5.      Do not discuss your intentions so openly so quickly

6.      In your  weak moments -  just like sliding on an icy patch, don't slam on the brakes; pump the brakes and  turn into the skid; and the car will straighten itself up-do the same thing don't tense up and slam on your brake, go gently into the weakness and

THEN STRAIGHTEN UP.

It is important to keep in mind that  whatever it is you are trying to change, it did not get that way over night; and most likely won't be changed over night!. Be consistent,  be kind to yourself prepare your transition, and accept the process.  And be assured, it is okay to keep starting over

 UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT!.

Can you believe it's already the end of January 2010?  And I have a birthday on the 29TH- omg, one year better in Him!  Are you refocused, refreshed and ready for the year ahead of us?  If not and in the words of T.D. Jakes, get ready, get ready, get ready!  Seek the intangible, look for a miracle and expect the impossible!

My mother always told us and still reminds us, "If it's to be, it's up to me!"  In other words, do not look for others to do for you, what you can do for yourself- pray about it, wait for confirmation and then just do it(not the way Tiger did it- I hope! :).

Plan something different this year that will assist to take you to the "next level" in life - this will be different for each of us.  Examine the deep places in your heart and ask yourself, "What is it that I can do to improve myself this year. What can I do to make myself a better person for me?".

For me this year, I've decided to provided a little more tough love to some love ones.  Sometimes we can enable people to over come  their issues to grow.  Sometimes, what we call doing in the name of "love" can often get in the way of what God has planned for them in progress.  Sometimes you just have to say "No- I'm sorry.  I love you, but no!"  As givers, we sometimes do to much for folks.  For me, I'd rather be a giver than a taker.  But be careful as a giver that you do not give to much to someone's own detriment.

OK, enough of that and on a slightly different topic.  We serve a God who knows when the time is right.  I say this because three years ago,  I desired to achieve a goal that appeared unobtainable.  In fact, my desire seemed almost impossible.  But, God!  With persistence, determination and faith, God made a way out of no way with this project in His time.  I am humbled, thankful for God's blessings and for His truth in his word .  His time is always the right time, regardless of how bad you may desire something.

Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door will be opened is His word- I am blessed, humbled and thankful for His faithfulness and manifestation of His promise.

Are you willing to work hard, seek, have faith and be patient for God's perfect timing in your life?  With my project, the time I initially desired in hind sight was neither God's perfect time or mine either.  Buy through much patience, persistence, faith and work, God delivered.  What He did for me, He will can do for you too!

With the new year, put Him first, be faithful and focus in spite of, and allow Him to do what only He can do in His time.

Have a prosperous, joyful, healthful, focused and heart felt
New Year!

BE OPTIMISTIC by C. Denise Johnson

Still Gratitude

            First Saturday                      C. Denise Johnson

It's a new year and I've got a new attitude, but not a new job. Since I haven't heard anything about an extension, my unemployment will soon be exhausted (tech speak for "you ain't getting no more loot"). Yet I'm still grateful (and faithful and determined).

So how do I maintain a positive vibe with the deck seemingly stacked against me? By believing in myself - if I don't who will believe in me. Redoubling my efforts shouldn't hurt either - which is why I sent revised resumes to my email list (didn't get one - email me to let me know so I can remedy the omission).

Just because I'm not employed doesn't mean I don't need business cards. I have to have something to pass out should I run into my potential employer or a new client at a networking or social function (or even in an elevator). In addition to my name and contact information, my new cards bill me as "Wordsmith, Griot and Consultant" and have a tagline that reads "Creating for the greater good." How's that for a mantra? I mean after all, this is a new year.

It's a new year full of opportunities to do my best, even better than last year. Opportunities to seize what I passed on before, to be more strategic and efficient in achieving my goals and desires, to move beyond regrets to accomplishments, and to appreciate what I have in front of me. My resolution for this new year is to be open to all the possibilities and blessings that will come in the months ahead.

I've lined up some freelance gigs and have other irons in the fire. I suppose the bottom line is I'm not rolling over in defeat - I ain't going out like that! Instead I'll count my blessings and life my life like its golden (thanks, Jill Scott).

One of those blessings is my birthday coming up in early February (don't try to guess my age because I don't look it or act it). And with age comes wisdom - and you can never have too much of that.

So with all of my accumulated wisdom, I wish all of you a blessed and prosperous New Year; and be optimistic.

"  "When I turned eighteen years old, my grandfather stressed the importance of voting by taking me to a tree where he was told that African-Americans were lynched by their neckties on their way to vote.  The experience left a profound impression in my mind."

"Fragments of Frozen Sound" is the title of his recent body of work. He actually used some scattered debris from Hurricane Katrina. "Each piece takes on their own nature in culture like the city of New Orleans...Hurricane Katrina, like slavery and lynching brought us together as well as made us stronger piece by piece.  Each piece is carefully constructed in unusually ways that emphasis musical compositions that becomes sound boards of human experience with color and pattern that move and grove to its own beat.  The ripples in the texture represent the roads we travel.  The rod in the works symbolize the cane my grandfather used to drawing the sand with. Each shape in every works are emphasized by using the technique mapping"

After listening to him speak, viewing his work and reading his statement, Kevin, like his work, are both unique visual personalities.

Healthy Habits, Beauty Basics

by  Edwina Kaikai

"How Dry I Am"
 Edwina KaiKai
 Edwina KaiKai

(Cue the music) "How dry I am? Nobody knows how dry I am."

Are you singing a remix of this old television commercial tune?  If so, you're not alone.  The weather outside has been so frigidly frightful; it's been more delightful to stay inside.

Unfortunately, getting that toasty feeling from a fireplace or centralized heating system can make our skin feel like toast, too.  As in dry, flaky, itchy and even cracking.  Eczema, psoriasis and other dry skin conditions often worsen in winter. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles may begin to show up, too, the result of drier skin. That's because everything craves moisture - the air around us as well as our skin.  Cold air has less moisture, i.e., humidity, than warm air.  And some of the moisture it does have evaporates when it's warmed by any sort of heating system. So the air draws moisture from our bodies, our skin.  And that's the moisture that had been keeping our skin smooth, hydrated and young-looking.

So, just as we change our clothes with the seasons, we should also adjust our skin care regimes.  Follow these tips skin care experts most frequently give on how all skin types, even oily and combination, should care for their skin in these cold winter months:

1.      Cool down those showers.  Use warm water instead of hot. Hot water strips away the body's natural oils, oils needed to create a barrier to keep the skin's moisture from being sucked into the dry air around it.

2.      Opt for showers rather than baths.  Again, it's about keeping more natural oils in the skin.  Baths take them away more than showers do.  If you must sit in the tub, do so for no more than 5 minutes.  Limit shower time to 5 minutes, too. OK, 10 minutes, tops.

3.
Avoid harsh soaps.  Now is not the time for deodorant or antibacterial soaps.  Or soaps that contain alcohol.  They strip oils from our skin, too.

4.
Moisturize well and often.  Oil-based moisturizers are best for creating that veil of protection against moisture loss.  Those in ointment form are considered most effective because of their 80/20 oil to water ratio.  Products called creams or night creams are often oil-based, too.  Oils that don't clog pores are avocado, mineral primrose or almond.  Lotions that contain humectants, such as glycerin or sorbitol, can be effective, too.

5.       Moisturize correctly.  After showering, bathing or washing hands, pat the skin dry for 20-30 seconds, leaving it a bit damp.  Then apply the moisturizer.  The moisturizer is trapping the water so that it gets drawn into the skin, not out into the thirsty air.

6.      Exfoliate.  Gentle exfoliating cleansers and scrubs remove dead skin. It's hard for moisturizers to penetrate layers of hard, dry skin. Exfoliate your lips, too, so that lip balms are most effective in preventing or repairing chapped lips.

7.      Use humidifiers.  When humidifiers put moisture in the air, the air isn't trying to draw it from our bodies, our skin.  Our skin will feel less dried out; as will our eyes and throat.

And finally, take heart. This, too, shall pass. Spring arrives March 20.
